Bad things happen to all of us but we are advised that it is our choice of reaction that determines whether we get stressed, or depressed or pessimistic. We can choose to be happy is the message of many self help books.

On the surface this seems perfectly logical, easy to understand and simple. So why isn’t it always so easy to put into practise? Why can’t we always take things in our stride with a smile on our face and a skip in our step?

I try very hard to practise optimism and, a lot of the time it works. But at other times, it just doesn’t and I haven’t been able to work out why until recently. What I’ve discovered seems to be working and I’d like to run it by you and ask you to put it into practise and see if it works for you.

Let me start with a little bit of background to put it all into context. For many years I have had a fascination for all things energetic. Not necessarily the hyperactive type of energetic but the fact that everything in our world in its simplest form is made of energy. The chair I’m sitting in at the moment, the computer screen I’m looking at as I type this and the words that I’m creating. They are all related to me on a basic level. To understand this energy more I dowse, using angle rods and a pendulum to gain an understanding the energies of the earth and how they interact with people and affect our lives. This is a very valid part of my Feng Shui practise.

But, like most consultants I am called in when something needs putting right. When the energy in somebody’s life is not in harmony. And so, as a precaution I have started to protect myself psychically on a regular basis. Not just when I think I need it but daily. As a result my psychic protection is getting stronger and stronger as the regular practise seems to have a cumulative effect.

And the by-product of this – life’s pretty good. Things that used to get to me now just bounce off or go right over my head.

So why would psychic protection make me see the world differently? Let’s look again at the advice we are given – you can choose to be happy. So with the best will in the world why doesn’t this work? Could it be that other factors are affecting you? Or, to be exact, other energies are interacting with your energy in a detrimental way.

If you are happy, your energy is vibrating at a certain level. And it’s infectious. Your energy vibration can affect the energy vibrations of others around you and so you make people smile, or everyone gets the giggles.

It can work the other way too. If somebody has a pessimistic outlook they can walk into a room and immediately lower the energy vibration.

Most of us don’t consciously recognise what is affecting us energetically. Why we ‘got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning’. But it’s when something is affecting us energetically in a detrimental way that, however hard we try and however much we want to choose to be happy, we just can’t do it.

If you think of a vacuum cleaner it has a filter that gets clogged up with bits of dust. The filter needs to be cleaned regularly to ensure that the vacuum continues to work well. Likewise our energy systems pick up bits of negative energy from all sorts of people and places and clog us up. Using your conscious mind (ie, choosing to be happy) just doesn’t have an effect on your fundamental energetic level.

What does work is psychic protection. Don’t get concerned about the psychic bit. It means that it works on an energetic level. It doesn’t mean that you’re going to become clairvoyant or a medium and start asking people to cross your palm with silver, unless you want to of course!

Psychic protection is quick, simple, gets stronger the more you practise it and quickly becomes a habit. And then choosing the way you want to live your life may just become a whole lot easier.
